Dentistry and appearance
There is a very strong overlap between dentistry and facial aesthetics; for time immemorial teeth have been used to assess health and beauty.
In prehistory good teeth would have been an excellent display of genes and diet, big factors when choosing a mate. It should not be a surprise that dentists and their forerunners have been charged with helping the form as well as the function of the teeth.
The anatomical training and experience with minor surgeries make dentists well equipped to carry out facial aesthetics Kent . There are extensive regulations within dentistry which ensure a professional and safe environment for cosmetic procedures. As well as giving impartial advice to help our patients make informed decisions about their options.
Services we provide
Dermal fillers
We have completed more than 200 dermal filler treatments, where a naturally occurring gel is injected just beneath the skin to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, or plump and fill the lips.
Dermal fillers are temporary and will notably reduce in 4 months, with many patients choosing to have them reapplied every 6 months.
If you have unwanted fillers, they can be removed by the injection of an enzyme which will break down the filler, so it can be reabsorbed into the body.
Botox
Botox is the strategic application of a semi-permanent muscle relaxant to groups of facial muscles, freezing them in place for between 4 to 6 months. It also reduces tension, thereby minimising the appearance of wrinkles.
It uses a bacteria-derived toxin with very localised effects. The needles that are used are very fine and are considered similar to a mosquito bite in sensation.
There are medications which have adverse interactions with Botox; please inform your dentist of any medication you are taking before having Botox injections.
Obagi skin care
The Obagi skin care range is a prescription-only medication in the UK and is part of our facial aesthetics Kent options. Our clinicians can prescribe and guide patients on its application and safe use.
As one of the few skin care products clinically proven to reduce signs of ageing, it comes with the drawback of having to be used with clinical supervision due to the 4% hydroquinone preparations.
Why use the dentist
The option of dentists over a beauty salon or a clinical spa is accountability. The GDC (General Dental Council) publicly displays the licence of all dental professionals in the UK. Being licensed with them is a necessity to be able to legally practise dentistry and any associated procedures. It is also mandated with the role of investigating complaints and prosecuting for malpractice and revoking licences where deemed appropriate. Our facial aesthetics Kent are performed by or under the guidance of Dipen Patal, our principal dentist and aesthetics expert.
