What’s the difference between dermal fillers in Kent and botox?

We are living in the age of uber technology. Smartphones paired with social media, means everyone is a photographer. Family and friend snaps are part of our daily routine and so wanting to make sure we’re looking as camera ready as possible with minimum daily effort is really just fair enough. Opting for a little cosmetic help could be the answer. But what’s right for you – botox injections or dermal fillers in Kent? Here’s our little handbook to help you decide.dermal-fillers-kent

What are they used for?

Well both botox and dermal fillers are used for similar things and both are delivered by injection but actually they do have slightly different uses.

Botox – well firstly the science part, it’s a muscle relaxer made from bacteria. For the most part it has been used to treat dynamic wrinkles. What’s a dynamic wrinkle you ask? Well these are those stubborn areas around your eyes, mouth and in between your eyebrows. They become more pronounced with age and so botox helps to relax the muscles near these areas – crows feet no more. Botox tends not to be used for fine lines caused by collagen breakdown.

Dermal fillers in Kent – Like botox, dermal fillers are injectable and can come in different forms. We are proud to offer patients Juvederm which is a hyaluronic acid based filler. Filler is used to treat fine wrinkles on the face like those little smile lines. However filler has more uses, it can be injected into areas to give a more fuller plump look. Areas we can treat include: lips, cheek, nasolabial lines (the lines from the nose to the corner of the mouth), tear trough (the area under the eye between the cheek and lower eyelid), Marionette lines (lines from the corner of the mouth down the chin), Jaw, chin, and even the temple.

How effective are they? What’s the process?

With botox it’s reported that you will see results within a few days, the side effects are minimal and mostly go away after a short amount of time. The injections usually last between 3 to 4 months. On the day of treatment you’ll be greeted by a team member then the practitioner will inject the area directly – it only takes five to ten minutes with minimal discomfort.

Dermal fillers in Kent are also considered to be very effective but do last longer than botox. They can have side effects but are rare and usually wear off. On the day of treatment a local anesthetic will be administered to the area to reduce discomfort. The filler will be injected this should only take a few minutes. Results will be visible straight away.

The real question

What are you looking to change in your facial features? If you’re tired of those deep set wrinkles then maybe botox would be the right call for you, but if you’re looking to smooth complexion or accentuate those already beautiful features then filler might be the path. We would recommend booking an online consultation with us at Stangrove Court Dental and one of our professional practitioners will be able to guide you more fully, for now we hope this has helped.
